Papa Johns Pizza at Berjaya Times Square

I went down to Kuala Lumpur last weekend and dropped by to Berjaya Times Square for my dinner. The place was so pack and we ended up at Papa Johns for the pizza.
We ordered set A (a 9" Hawaiian Pizza, breadsticks and 2 soft drinks) price at RM29.90 after the service charge and tax total RM34.68. We were shocked that the bill was rounded up to RM34.70. We usually encounter round down.  Well, just leave the pricing behind. Lets talk about the food. The breadsticks taste good with the source (serving 4 in a plate). We really enjoy the hot breadsticks. But the hawaiian pizza is not my favourite. The bread base is too thick for me and the cheese on top looks cheesy and really only LOOK cheesy. It taste not cheesy as it look.  Overall, not worth the money for the pizza but the breadsticks reserved a thumbs up when its hot.  By the way, they provide delivery as well.

Soya milk - start of the day

Very expensive soya milk from Mr Bean sgd1.40 per cup. But still worth it as it has been whole week I went to the company canteen and came back with empty hands. The canteen soya milk only cost me sgd0.40.( with my thermo cup, normal sgd0.50.)
I was joke around with my colleagues cause they selling it cheap and now they bankrupt.

glacéau Vitamin Water

Came across this drink. Before throw the bottle away, saw the funny advertising label. I thought those are writing about the vitamins bla bla bla. But I was wrong. The funny advertising label make me google for all the label sentence online.
The one I have here with me is restore. Highlighted the funny part in green. Will try out the other drink and post the funny label here. Stay tune.

Ikea Meatball Shrinking !!! @Alexandra Road

Been quite sometime never have Ikea food. The meatball is my favourite. Decided to drop by to the Ikea Restaurant. Luckily we reach there quite early (~6pm) where the dinner queue was yet to form up. We ordered  Swedish Meatball (10 pcs) SGD5.40 and 4 Chicken Wings. The Meatball is shrinking. I remember last time it was round and solid and big. Now the size is like a Singapore $1 coin and its not round and not compact. Quite disappointing. Last time we have to share for the 10 pcs set but now we can finish it all by own. Luckily we ordered 4 chicken wings and the size of the chicken wing still the same ..
Is that really a Swedish Meatball? or its a Singapore Meatball??? I thought they should promote the Swedish food there. Really disappointing.  We purposely dropped by to have the meat ball. Until now look into the photo I snapped. Where is the old time Ikea meat ball?

Nandos in JCube

For those who read the blog, I am so sorry, again, I need to talk about Nandos. Probably you are thinking am I crazy why I keep having same thing over and over again. Well, at least not in the same place. Am I going to try out all the Nandos outlets here in Singapore? Hmm.. I don't know, lets see how.
Ok, first of all, thank you for the treat. Yes this time is a job promotions treat from colleagues. (Thats the best part I like, having nice food and you dont even need to spend, if can, more treat please ...)
Due to not feeling well, I am talking the lemon and herbs sauce with grilled vegetables (somehow mine sides is little that day, maybe due to all of us ordering the same sides 'grilled vegetables') and this time my colleagues ordering something new for us to try. The Novo Pita. (nice ~~)
Enjoy the food.. and again.. Girls, thank you so much for the treat!

Beef Noodles from Causeway Point (FoodRepubic) 大食代 牛肉面

After long wait, finally Causeway Point, Woodlands FoodCourt is back from renovations.
I had ordered a bowl of soup beef noodles. Cost me SGD4.30 (they definitely charge us for the renovation on this). The taste of the noodles is quite good, but this is still overprice for me as I was not feeling full after the bowl of noodles but bought some bread for teabreak (During the tea break, I ate 3 slices of bread and a cup of hot milo from the vending machine and 2 apples from NTUC).  The noodles is not filling up my tummy.
When we were on our way out from the shopping mall, there are a few students dress up like chef standing in front of the mall distributing the small promotions cards from the foodcourt. 10% discount. Well, its still overprice for me after the 10% discount (SGD3.90) and the promotions cards only valid until 28 June 2012 and only valid from Monday to Thursday.
Taste of the noodles: 7/10
Price: Overprice.

泰丰火锅 Tyhe Hong Steamboat at Liang Seah Street, Bugis

If you walk down to the bugis in Singapore during the dinner time, there are a lot of places where you can have nice steamboat along the street. Why this place? Well, you only need to pay nett SGD20 per pax during weekend. (Friday - Sunday SGD20nett per pax and Monday-Thursday SGD18nett per pax) and the variety of the food is really a lot. But the most important thing is, the seafood is quite fresh (not easy to get those places which serve fresh seafood) and secondly, along the street, there are quite number of places for desert. (my favourite desert place - Desert First is in the same row)
You can choose up to two soups for your steamboat (we usually go for chicken and tomyam) and we attack only a few things.
1) Prawns
2) Crabs
3) Pork
4) Beef
5) Vege
6) Mushrooms
7) Fried bun
8) Fruits

Beside all the above mentioned items, they have a lots more like clams (several types), seaweed, noddles..etc. They usually have two type of drinks, cold barley or lemon juice and beside this there are fruits like pineapples and watermelons and eggs and different type of meats too.
Cheap and nice place to have the weekend nice dinner :D
Should go there again after the next pay day :p

Batam Trip - Weekend getsaway from Singapore

Last minute decided to go for a weekend gateaway to the nearby place, Batam, Indonesia.
No Visa needed for me - Malaysia Passport (To check you need a visa to entry Batam).
We planned to go Batam on Friday morning and will be back to Singapore on Saturday. To secure our ferry tickets (since now is school holiday season), we decided to drop by to Harbour Front Terminal to buy our tickets (I did called to check the availability of the tickets before hand) on Thursday night.  My friend suggested we go for BatamFast, one of the Batam Ferry Operator (BatamFast Ferry Schedule) We bought two way tickest (go and back) which cost us SGD47 per pax and we got the 9.20am Friday morning tickets to Sekupang, Batam (Yeah!!!) and the counter girl remind us to reach the terminal before 8.40am. (Good thing about this, the entry visit card was printed once you purchase the tickets, manual fill up the form is not required which really good for lazy people like me, remember to check all the details printed, they did printed wrongly and luckily I spotted that before I left the place).
After secure the ferry tickets, with my friends help, we successfully book the hotel via online Agoda and we go for Harris Waterfront Resort Hotel. I was never been to Batam before, but based on my friends experience, she mentioned that this place is better where at least there are land activities and water sports there. For other places, you may need to travel for the games and activities.
On that day itself, we reached Batam at 9.20am EDT. Yes, 9.20am, as for Batam is 1 hour behind Singapore time, so we took 9.20am SGT, reach Batam exactly the same time. :D
We thought that we will need to take taxi to the hotel (as we never book for those hotel package where all the transport will be included but it cost more). But surprisingly, there were a guy with the orange Harris hotel sign in hand, asking us, Harris waterfront, please proceed to the Orange van. WoW, we got free ride.
Along the journey to the hotel, well, no view actually. Batam is just a small place and the view there remind me of my childhood kampong life where along the road there are a lot of small wooden stalls. We reached the hotel earlier than the checkin time and luckily there are room available and allow us to have an early checkin. The hotel check-in was pretty fast and I like their cookies served in the lobby counter :D (I took quite a few pieces). After the checkin, the staff told us to proceed to a side table near the corner to book for our way back ferry schedule. This really surprise us, as we thought that the next day we will need to go to the terminal earlier to grab for our tickets. But now, they will arrange that for us. We just need to past them the tickets and tell them what is our favourable timing and we were told to come back to the counter on the next day about 1 hour before the ferry time to collect our tickets and there will be a shuttle service bring us to the terminal. (This is really a good services).
The Harris hotel equip with swimming pools (adult and kids pools available). There are 3 main buildings. Two with hotels rooms and another one is the activities building. Where you can get your spa, massage, jacuzzi, karaoke, shooting games there. We were so lucky to get a room with the seaview.
One thing bad about the trip, the food is not cheap. A can of coke cost us SGD5 or Rp32,000. (feel like we had been robbed). Since all the food is so expensive, we pick the most value money meal. Pizza which is about SGD20 (that is better than picking a bowl of chicken rice with about the same price). The barbecue chicken pizza is really nice and I like the barbecue sauce and the pizza was freshly baked just infront of the cafe. Before the dinner, we went for the massage and we picked the Shiatsu 60 mins massage which is SGD50. Lucky we went there on Friday, where during Friday 10am until 2pm, there are 35% discount, since we were there at night, we supposedly can only get 20% discount but the counter girl gave us 35%. The massage is quite ok. But make sure you pick the right person as not all the staff is good in that.
Well, Batam does not have really nice, clean beach and quite boring actually with limited activities. Luckily we took this hotel or else we still need to spend money to get taxi to travel for activities.
Overall, it is still ok for first time trip or for water sports activities or weekend gateaway.
For the Harris Hotel Available activities, please click here. Please take note there were two Harris hotel in Batam, one in Batam center and another one in Waterfront.

Jia Xiang Kuching Restaurant 家乡

My friend bought me to Vivo City 'Jia Xiang Kuching Restaurant at Vivo City. The place is just beside the foodcourt in the basement furnish with the old style wooden furniture.
We both ordered the Kuching Noodles. I never tried this before but I do have friends went to Kuching before mentioning the noodles there is really nice.
But how about this? The wantan noodles is not in black ?!!!(not as what I usually have which is with the black thick soya sauce).  This really not attracting me. The come with soup with 3 wantan and 2 prawns inside. After I took the first bite, the taste surprise me. I thought the taste will not be good but I was wrong. My friend told me must eat with their chilli. I tried to mix a bit in the noodles. It taste even better.
Thanks to my friends, the noodles is Good. Thumbs up.
